(10) How could God possibly condemn Adam and Eve to death when there was no law pointing out sin? How can you expect two people to know that it is "good" to obey god and "evil" to listen to the serpent when they didn't know the difference between good and evil in the first place?

I think I can only deal with one issue at a time. There was a law established which pointed out right from wrong in the time of Eden. First of all, the tree of called "knowledge of good and EVIL." The presence of the word "evil" is evidance they knew what evil was, other wise, why did she resist when the serpent tempted her?

Now the bible says that SIN is not imputed where there is no law (Romans 5:13). If then there was no law when adam and eve sinned, why was sin imputed unto them? Why did they get punished? Why were they held accountable? If there was no law, then they were guiltless. But since there must be law in order to impute sin on someone who trasngressed the law, then since they sinned and were punished, this means there was a law established. We can see this is we examine the account a bit closer:

Genesis 3:6
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Notice carefully. She "desired" that which was not hers. This means she coveted, and broke the 10th commandment. Then she "took" what was not hers, this means she stole and broke the 8th commandment. If these law were not in place, then sin would not have been imputed unto her, and she would not have been punished.

Now since those laws existed, James 2:10 says that when we break one law we break then all. This means all the law of 10 Commandments must have been in existance, and since she knew very well what "evil" was, she and her husband were well aware of the law.

The word "knowledge" for the Tree holds the meaning of "understanding." I can have knowledge of my car, but if I go into the engine, examine its parts, learn its ways, study how it works and how it was made, etc etc, now I have more of an "understanding" of my car. See, they knew about evil, but they did not experience it, nor have an intimate understanding of it. Thats how God wanted it. This was the "half" truth the serpent told Eve, that if she eats it, she will be as gods, knowing good and evil." -Genesis 3:5.

I hope this helps.
